Hi, Again, a beautiful morning greeted us. We headed to Lyle but met this eastbound stack train at the Lyle siding east of town so we gave chase and caught it at an overlook off Washington Route 14 overlooking Avery.
We then turned back west again and went to the overlook at Lyle. While we waited for a train we were able to photograph a hawk and
a vulture.
Finally, at 8:20 AM an eastbound Stack Train came along.
We chased it east getting shots at Maryhill and
East Brady.
After heading back west on Route 14 we got off on John Day Dam Road and followed it to the old SP&S road bed. We took this road west a mile or so where we photographed a train at Cliff.
From Cliff we reversed direction, regained Route 14 and continued west stopping for lunch in Bingen. After lunch we went to a tunnel west of Hood, WA. where we photographed this westbound stack train.
The westbound met this eastbound. Next the westbound Empire Builder showed up but I was unprepared and did not get the shot.
We then moved back east to Hood, WA where we got 2 trains passing the abandoned lumber mill there.
We then headed for Drano Lake where we knew we would have sun a lot longer. While we waited I photographed this Osprey.
Finally, about 7:00 PM we got our last train of the day, a westbound.
I hope you enjoyed the photos.
