Maine Eastern

Hi, Last Saturday my wife, Ruthe, and I rode Maine Eastern's train from Brunswick, ME to Rockland, ME, and return.  Since the train began and ended its day in Rockland, this provided an opportunity to head east out of Brunswick for a a couple of photo locations before our trip.

Our first stop was Wiscasset, ME.  Here the train crosses a causeway,

and then runs along the waters edge.  It was pulled by one of the railroad's 2 FL-9s.

Our next stop was Bath.  Highway traffic that had used the upper level of the railroad bridge has been moved to a new four lane bridge to the left.

We then headed into Brunswick where we photographed the train arriving at the station.

After disembarking its passengers the train moved to the Wye where it was turned for the first trip of the day to Rockland.

The rear end was brought up by a parlor observation car.  One leg of the wye can be seen in the second photo at the right.

The depot area in Rockland provided some nice open views.  In the next 2 photos the train is disembarking passengers after its arrival.

The station still stands in Rockland.  It houses a small Maine Eastern gift shop and a coffee shop.

Only the engine was turned for our return to Brunswick.

Before the train left I went forward to the parlor car for this interior view.

Thanks for looking.
