Sayonara KCS - 3

Hi, We were much more successful on the third day of our trip. we began the day by heading off to Deramus Yard on the north side of Shreveport. All of the photos in this post were taken in Louisiana.

We spotted a train we thought was about to head out the south end of the yard so we found a place to set up. Unfortunately, the train did a lot of switching in the yard.

While we waited we photographed this yard job. Also, we met a railroad policeman who stopped to find out what we were doing. When we explained he warned us to stay off railroad property and suggested a location downtown that was fairly busy.

We headed to the suggested location, however, the only train we saw was this UP man. Also, the officer went down there to make sure we heeded his warning. While we were here we saw the southbound that had been switching in the yard pass a few blocks away. It was time to move north.

A stop at Texas Junction netted this north bound local. There is a wye here that connects the line to Dallas, TX to the main north/south line.

Continuing north we encountered this southbound mixed freight at Vivian.

After a short chase we got another opportunity at Caddo. The headend is pictured above and below.

Here's the DPU at Caddo.

Pushing north we found this northbound in the siding at Rodessa (above and below). The crew was friendly so we learned a southbound was close.

We quickly relocated to the Black Bayou for the power and

the DPU.

Thanks for looking.
