Summerail Trip - 2B

Hi, After leaving the Louisville & Indiana late in the morning of August 2 we headed for the Paducah & Louisville yard where we learned a coal train was unloading at the power plant in Kosmosdale, KY.

We got to Kosmosdale just as the light power was leaving the plant.

The locomotives pulled out on to the mainline, reversed direction and headed for Louisville (above and below).

We beat the power to Louisville where it was yarded (above and six below).

We then returned to the Louisville and Indiana where we caught the Port Job arriving at the Jeffersonville Port.

We were surprised when, instead of switching the port, the crew dropped the incoming cars, picked up a long string of outbound cars and headed back to the yard (above and two below). The port is switched by M&G railroad.

We chased the Port Job back to the yard and got two more locations (above and below).

These two veterans were in the engine service area and now the light was perfect for shooting from US 31 (above and two below). They were there the next day too.

My last shots of the day were with two different focal lengths at Memphis, IN. This train was really moving and it was a challenge just to get this location.

Thanks for looking.
