Hi, The Wilmington Chapter of the NRHS sponsored its 27th SEPTA Charter on the day before the Super Bowl; in this case on February 1. The trips began at SEPTA's 69th Street Terminal in Upper Darby. In the morning the lines to Media and Sharon Hill were covered (Routes 101 and 102) while in the afternoon we traveled over Route 100; the Norristown High Speed Line.
The weather for the entire day was gray.
I traveled to the Philadelphia area with friends Dale Diacont and Bill Kalkman arriving a few minutes before 9:00 AM. While waiting for our 10:00 AM departure we got some photos of Media and Sharon Hill cars arriving (above and below),
loading passengers and
waiting on the shop track.
The first stop for photos was made at Drexel Hill Junction (above and below).
From Drexel Hill Junction we headed out the Media Line (above and 11 below). In the photo above our car awaits the arrival of an inbound car at the Woodland Ave. Station in Springfield, PA. This is the end of the double track down from Drexel Hill Junction.
The regular service car has picked up a passenger and is accelerating north.
Crossisng Crum Creek at Pine Ridge Run Park.
At Pine Ridge Road a home owner built to garden railroads (above and below).
Another meet with regular service cars (above and two below).
While we were there a regular service car arrived in Media
and pulled up just behind our chartered car.
After the regular service car departed we had a photo opp at this theater.
After leaving Media we returned to Drexel Hill Junction and headed out the Sharon Hill Line (above and four below).
Darby Creek in Garrett Tract, Drexel Hill, PA provided another photo op (above and two below). The bridge is just south of the Creek Road Station.
The afternoon was spent on the Norristown High Speed Line. Our first stop was the Beechwood-Brookline Station. This sub station is just north of stop.
As Dale and I had visited the High Speed Line in June of 2019 (see this blog post - http://capitollimited.blogspot.com/2019/07/a-trip-to-delaware-pennsylvania-and-new.html - for photos) we did not take many photos on this part of the trip. However, a stop at Bryn Mawr to meet two regular service trains did provide some opportunities (above and three below). In the photo above a train headed for Norristown (on the left) met our charter (on the right).
Here the Norristown bound train departs.
Next a train inbound for the 69th Street terminal arrived (above and below).
