Italy Trip -12, Naples, Italy

Hi, Our second port of call on our cruise was Naples. Accompanied by Ila Beck, the mother of the groom, we took a taxi to the National Archaeological Museum. This museum is reputed to have the finest collection of items recovered from Herculaneum and Pompeii.

Here we found statues (above and three below),

art (above and two below),

including this mosaic,

artifacts (above and below),

and ceilings (above and below).

There also were some odd things such as these three batmen and

two statues of Yoda.

After lunch we walked back to the ship. Here are some of the street scenes we photographed (above and three below).

After Ruthe and Ila returned to the ship I continued to explore the area near the port. This fountain is called Fontana del Nettuno.

A few blocks further on was the Piazza del Plediscito partially surrounded by Basilica Reale Pontificia San Francesco di Paola.

On the way back to the ship I stopped to photograph Castel Nuovo. Thanks for looking.
