Hi, Friday was to be our day on the Louisville and Indiana. But first we decided to check out the Southern Railroad of Indiana as this was an irregular operation. The railroad has been reduced to switching the Lehigh Cement plant in Speed, IN since April 1.
When we arrived at the engine house in Sellersburg #103 was idling. This is an Alco S-3 that has been reengined with a Cummins diesel. We photographed it as it moved off toward Speed about 1 1/2 miles north. While photographing Southern RR of Indiana we had the pleasure of the company of Keith Burkey.
At speed the crew spotted some loads on the interchange track for pick up by the Louisville & Indiana. They then grabbed a string of empties (above)
for spotting in the plant (above and four below).
The locomotive then returned light to Sellersburg (above and two below).
Next we headed to Jeffersonville where we learned this yard crew (above and two below) was the only activity in the area.
At this point we decided to see what we could find on the Paducah & Louisville (see post 2B coming soon).
Thanks for looking.

Great Coverage! Makes sense that the road would concentrate on the cement factory---nothing else on its line!
