Railfanning - 7-5-2013

Hi,  Friend Rudy Volin and I spent July 5 along the former PRR Middle Division. Traffic was lighter than I expected and the weather did not hold up. Still, we enjoyed the day.

We heard our first train on the radio as we headed west on US 15 near Duncannon, PA so we turned around and were able to catch this auto rack at Cove.

We then continued west to Newport where we explored east of town along Lower Bailey Road.  After turning down Bretz Road we waited for Amtrak's Pennsylvanian and

#20T.

Another 1/2 mile east is Leshville, Road where shortly #400 showed up.

We got as west far as Port Royal where we heard this eastbound call a signal about a mile away as we parked.

Mexico, PA, about 3 miles east of Port Royal, is the location of a pair of New York Central style signals that were installed during the Conrail era.  Locomotive #6937 is an SD60 rebuilt at Juniata.

On our return to Port Royal we caught the westbound Pennsylvanian,

NS #28N, and

this west bound manifest.

Thanks for looking.
